Health Ambassadors

Since 2009, Swindon Health Ambassadors have been working across Swindon. This free and confidential service is aimed at people who may not be already accessing other services. You may find that you are posted to the Health Ambassadors to help you get healthier.

This NHS funded project has Health Ambassadors employed by Swindon Borough Council. This service is suited to someone who has diabetes and wants to gain a healthier lifestyle by making small changes that can be maintained longer term. Arrangements will be made to meet you in your own area, such as the local library or somewhere easily reached and, if needed, your home. An individual action plan is produced to suit you and can be very flexible. Activities can include being accompanied on a walk, introduced to local activities or taken to the supermarket to shop for healthier food. You will be able to have around six sessions with the Health Ambassador. People who have used this service have noticed an improvement in their physical and mental health.

For any further information and/or to access a Health Ambassador please contact: Peter Kent, Live Well Manager – Public Health, phone: 01793 465513 email: livewell@swindon.gov.uk
